As health care professionals, we acknowledge the existence of other useful medicines that could bring relief to our patients. The use of medicinal cannabis is currently accepted by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA), upon application by a registered medical practitioner. There are certain conditions approved for use. To ensure ethical and responsible prescribing patients must actively engage in the screening process. The TGA’s assessment process is stringent and they make the final decision in granting access to treatment. For this reason we have a very thorough and comprehensive screening process prior to an application.
